Essential Architectural Modeling: A minimalist approach to a complete, correct, and consistent path from idea to solution.

August 17, 2021 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm CDT

The parable of the blind men describing an elephant is often used to illustrate the problem of representing a single business architecture through the views of multiple artifacts. There are so many possible artifacts to use to communicate a business architecture. But, what actually is the architecture? Can we see it form directly through layering the evolutionary progression of our modeling from high level business requirements through solutioning? How can we be sure we have not missed any requirements? How and when do we apply principles, patterns, and enterprise standards? Scott Fleming will present a concise modeling approach that can be used to ensure each of these questions are answered.

Scott Fleming has been actively involved in IT Architecture Leadership for more than 25 years at the enterprise, portfolio, program and project levels; often at the same time. As a consultant for over 20 years, He has successfully coordinated efforts across Business Architecture, Information Architecture, Solutions Architecture, and Enterprise Architecture. In addition to his extensive experience in transforming various organizations through better architecture, Scott has also helped clients of diverse size, budget, and skill sets succeed in establishing right-sized core competences, methodologies, and governance practices.
